Neuropsychological Evaluations
Neuropsychological evaluations involve the assessment of cognitive processes and focus on brain-behavior relationships to understand why someone is having the difficulties they are experiencing. For instance, someone may have poor short-term auditory memory, which affects his/her/their reading comprehension or note-taking in class. These evaluations can include the assessment of:
attention and concentration
learning
memory (e.g., short-term, long-term, working memory)
processing speed
executive functioning (i.e., planning, organizing, self-monitoring)
auditory processing
phonological awareness (e.g., sound blending, sound discrimination, sound segmenting)
visual-spatial perceptual skills
reasoning skills
