Biography
Mirella Maggi, PhD
Dr. Mirella Maggi earned her Ph.D. from the Child Clinical Psychology program at Pennsylvania State University. An interest in understanding children’s emotional development led her to minor in Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience and work on a study of children’s neural processing of emotions in the voice. She completed her internship with Dartmouth Geisel School of Medicine and her post-doctoral fellowship at Dartmouth’s West Central Behavioral Health in Lebanon, New Hampshire.
Dr. Maggi has extensive training in empirically supported treatments for anxiety and depression, as well as a wide range of other challenges in children, adolescents, and college students. Additionally, she has extensive experience working with parents and families to create positive changes in communication and relationships. In particular, Dr. Maggi specializes in treating children and young people experiencing symptoms of trauma-related disorders utilizing Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP).
Dr. Maggi has conducted psychological assessments, provided consultation services to schools, clinical training and supervision to doctoral interns and medical residents, and given lectures on trauma-informed care in pediatric and primary care settings.
Dr. Maggi creates a warm environment for all those she works with. She takes the time to learn about each person’s unique challenges and values in order to form a collaborative relationship that guides the client toward their most fulfilling and meaningful life.
