Biography

Hilary Snyder


Hilary Snyder is a doctoral student in the Counseling and School Psychology program at Rivier University. She earned her bachelor's degree in psychology from Northern Vermont University. With a passion for supporting children and adolescents, Hilary has a strong foundation in compassion-based care.

As a practicum student at Plymouth State University's Counseling Center, Hilary gained hands-on experience working with young adults struggling with anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). She utilized a client-centered approach, tailoring sessions to meet the specific needs and goals of each individual. By employing a strengths-based approach and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques, Hilary helped her clients develop effective coping strategies and build resilience. Additionally, she co-facilitated a psychoeducation mindfulness/yoga group and a SMART Recovery group.

In addition to providing therapy, Hilary has a keen interest in testing and assessment. She is dedicated to providing educational assessments that are tailored to each client's needs, facilitating effective treatment and improving outcomes. Her attention to detail and her ability to create actionable insights contribute to effective intervention strategies and enhance overall client progress.

Hilary's previous experience as a horseback riding instructor in Canada has equipped her with valuable interpersonal skills, adaptability, and a patient approach. This background has also provided her with insights into building trust, fostering a safe environment, and tailoring instruction to meet individual needs. Hilary is committed to providing compassionate and culturally sensitive care to all clients. She values the uniqueness of everyone's journey and is dedicated to helping clients reach their full potential.
